Regenerative agriculture as a biomimetic technology

چکیده

As populations increase and economic affluence expand, conventional farmers will be unable to meet the demand for food. Two main scenarios offer different solutions. The first scenario aims further intensify scientific- technology-driven agriculture research. second radically switch nature-based solutions in agricultural systems. There seem two interpretations of scenario: on one hand, interpretation IUCN regards solutions, such as regenerative agriculture, using nature denies a link with biomimicry; other EU an example biomimicry. This raises question: is prime biomimicry or it only very important way use agriculture? To answer this question, we take step back philosophically reflect Based definitions mimesis, distinguish between concepts biomimicry, ‘strong’ concept which emphasizes natural principles copying models, ‘weak’ concept, inspiration by creative invention. Secondly, describe analyze part interpret then Both have their problems. address these, propose new based definition mimesis. enable us differentiate strict imitation nature, nature-inspired We argue that our conceptualization helps operationalize biomimetic technology.

Biomimetic microenvironments for regenerative endodontics

Regenerative endodontics has been proposed to replace damaged and underdeveloped tooth structures with normal pulp-dentin tissue by providing a natural extracellular matrix (ECM) mimicking environment; stem cells, signaling molecules, and scaffolds. In addition, clinical success of the regenerative endodontic treatments can be evidenced by absence of signs and symptoms; no bony pathology, a dis...

Biomimetic Microelectronics for Regenerative Neuronal Cuff Implants.

Smart biomimetics, a unique class of devices combining the mechanical adaptivity of soft actuators with the imperceptibility of microelectronics, is introduced. Due to their inherent ability to self-assemble, biomimetic microelectronics can firmly yet gently attach to an inorganic or biological tissue enabling enclosure of, for example, nervous fibers, or guide the growth of neuronal cells duri...

Multifunctional Agriculture: Agriculture Renewal as a Modern Paradigm for Agriculture and Rural Development

Multifunctional agriculture (MFA) has emerged as a key concept in science and politics with respect to the future of agriculture and rural development in the recent decade. Overall, MFA implies that in addition to their main function in production and support of rural livelihood, the agricultural activities have some other advantages for the environment including the conservation of water and s...

Regenerative agriculture: merging farming and natural resource conservation profitably

Most cropland in the United States is characterized by large monocultures, whose productivity is maintained through a strong reliance on costly tillage, external fertilizers, and pesticides (Schipanski et al., 2016). Despite this, farmers have developed a regenerative model of farm production that promotes soil health and biodiversity, while producing nutrient-dense farm products profitably. Li...
